Elizabeth Barszcz named as the Sole Finalist for Superintendent
The Silverton School Board has named longtime educator and principal Elizabeth Barszcz as the sole finalist for the position of Superintendent of Silverton Public School. Elizabeth has served Silverton students and families for over 20 years and is known for her passion for student empowerment, collaborative leadership, and commitment to the academic and emotional well-being of every child. As we look ahead to the future of our school, the Board is confident in her vision and leadership. Her full application materials are available here for public review.

The Board invites all community members to attend the May 13 Regular Board Meeting, where there will be a dedicated opportunity to share feedback and comments before the Board finalizes their decision.

Silverton School is a public institution for K-12 students serving Silverton and San Juan County. We challenge children to achieve excellence of mind, body, and character. It is the mission of staff and faculty to create dynamic classes of talented, involved, and responsible students. Silverton seeks to help every student become academically strong with skills, interests, and experiences that will enhance classes and contribute to the life of the school in a variety of areas. After moving to an Expeditionary Learning model, we have won numerous awards and recognitions. With a cutting edge curriculum that is recognized nationwide and very low student to teacher ratios, our kids get private education in a public school setting. Our focus on social-emotional learning builds a respectful and safe environment and helps our students develop their character. We are a member of the nationwide EL Network of schools.

School Schedule & Calendar
Each year our students embark on new learning expeditions in Social Studies and Science that are based on the Colorado State Standards for each grade level. These learning expeditions use compelling topics, high quality projects, authentic audiences, fieldwork and experts to bring learning to life in rigorous and exciting ways.
